Starting January 1, 2010 we'll be selecting five brand new urban gardeners to become our celebrity gardeners.

Each gardener selected will have their own blog page here on the Urban Farming Oz site. We'll post photos, news and any video footage provided. Follow our gardeners as they turn their 'patch' into a productive edible garden. Video footage provided can also be uploaded to YouTube to help encourage the world to become Urban Farmers.

What's in it for you?

As an Urban Farmer we hope you are ready to experience the sheer delight of harvesting your first home grown fruit and vegies. You may never again enjoy the taste of a store bought tomato once you have eaten your own varieties.  Even better, watch your family and friends become inspired as they see your garden grow. You'll be able to use your household vegetable and garden scraps to create healthy compost - and if you are lucky enough to live in an area that allows it, you could even run a couple of chooks or ducks - the perfect garden animals. They will eat your scraps, give you lovely fresh eggs and the worlds best fertiliser. You'll find being in your Urban Farming is a great stress buster. It's also a great activity for the whole family to work on together. Kids are natural gardeners and love to watch things grow.

So, come on - let's get started!

Starter Kit

Each of our five celebrity gardeners will receive the following items:

  1. A selection of easy to grow vegetable seeds
  2. A 43 page Food Gardening Tips Booklet from Peter Kearney of Cityfood Growers
